Moving house is never an easy feat! But it is a great time to have a good sort out of the clutter you have collected over the years.

At the end of last year year my boyfriend and I decided it was time to move in together. So we did as most couples do and took to the internet to try and find properties to suit our needs.

Remember: be specific in your search criteria!

We looked in a variety of places and made sure we set our search parameters to exactly what we wanted. We didn’t see the point in looking at properties that weren’t even going to suit our needs.

When we got the ok it was all about measuring up and working out what would fit where. We moved from 2 3-bedroom houses into a 6-bedroom house so in theory everything should fit…..

Remember: measure up and discuss how you want to lay out the new house

We measured all the rooms exactly and then sat down to have a look at the plans and work out what is going where. This even included us measuring furniture so we could be sure there was room for everything.

So when it came to moving, we did one house at a time, moving all the little boxes with our own cars initially. Then we hired a van for the weekend to move the larger items.

Remember: knowing what items go where in the new house makes unpacking much easier!

Having that thorough conversation of what was to go where made it so much easier when it came to where to put stuff in the new house. Everything was done in a logical manner it was wonderful!

And it also made it easier when those who offered to help asked where to put things as both myself and my boyfriend knew exactly where everything was going.

Now we are in and pretty much unpacked already. Everything is settling and our children are loving it just as much. Happy life for us!
