I am not going to lie, I am a HUGE social media addict. I am definitely not on it as much as I feel I would want to, but do post regularly in a verify of places (mainly Instagram) as a way of trying to promote this blog.
However as much as I had reduced my own content, I didn’t feel the like I was getting the most out of the stories I was reading. And most of all the adverts were really annoying! I wanted so much to make my Facebook more appropriate for me. So here’s how I achieved just that.
- I left pages that no longer interested or resonated with me.
- Those that I kept, I unfollowed to stop the flow of adverts on my news feed
- I left groups I no longer visited or wanted to be a part of. Anything which was having some form of negative impact on my life went
- Quick note: you cannot unfollow groups.
- Then the tough bit… I went through my friends list. If I didn’t know someone I unfriended them.
- The friends I kept, if I wanted to know what they were up to I did nothing, but those who I just wanted to keep in touch with every now and then I unfollowed.
The end result…. A newsfeed that had stories from the friends and family I wanted to hear from and more stories from the group’s I love being a part of.
