3 ways to supercharge your morning

I used to really like mornings, before children… Now they can be pretty tough! Mainly due to the fact that the children are full of so much energy it can be truly overwhelming. However, I have come to realise it doesn’t have to be this way, and I have written a few posts on various methods I have used to make my mornings more enjoyable and less rushed.

One thing I will say is that not every day is perfect, and I do still have those mornings where I wake up and really just want to roll over and go back to sleep rather than get out of bed and deal with life. Having said that there are three things that I do every morning that have given me focus and motivation to help get me not just through the morning, but also through the day.

1. Take time to meditate

I do not get out of bed before I have done this! And yes I know that is a slightly controversial statement, but doing it this way has worked wonders. Let me explain, rather than getting up and finding somewhere quiet to then sit back down and meditate, I have found using my comfortable sleeping position, in my warm bed is the perfect place for me to meditate. I am already in a relaxed state so I find my meditations are deeper, and then when I do get out of bed I have done a load of deep breathing which has left me invigorated and ready to face the day

2. Drink a glass of water

So mini confession, though I have put this in here I still do struggle some mornings to get this in at the right time. That doesn’t mean I don’t do it, but on the rare occasion I get to enjoy a coffee in bed, the glass of water isn’t the first thing to pass my lips.

In an ideal world, the idea is that the first thing you should drink is one glass of ice cold water. This should leave you refreshed and again energised for the day.

But if you do end up having that tea or coffee first, don’t stress out. Just make sure you do drink water afterwards to refresh and cleanse your palette.

3. Plan your day

Ahh planning; where would I be without this! I will sit down with my planner every morning and decide what tasks need to be done that day. I look at the week and see where I have busy days and draw down from the hug “to do list” in my brain to find some focus for the day.

A lot of the time these are simple tasks, but I know if I don’t write things down they won’t get done. It is also a great way for me to remain accountable to myself in showing that I am utilising my time effectively. Plus it is so nice to be able to tick things off my list by the end of the day! Seeing a completed list of tasks always makes me smile.
